The government wants to present on Wednesday exactly how the end of the corona measures in Austria should work.

According to reports, the federal government will present the timetable for the end of the corona measures on Wednesday. It should be recorded which crisis measures end at what time or can be transferred to the regular health system, it said.

This primarily affects vaccination options, tests and the dispensing of COVID-19 medication. No further details were available as of Tuesday afternoon.

Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) had already announced in mid-January that all Corona laws and regulations would be abolished this year. Corona should no longer be a notifiable disease, it said. The regulations are likely to fall in the first half of the year, the minister said at the time.

Rauch: Don’t misunderstand the end of all Corona laws

Shortly afterwards, however, he warned against misunderstanding the end of all Corona laws he had announced: “Corona will stay,” he said in an APA interview a week ago. He also called for the Covid booster vaccinations to be picked up and for the vulnerable to continue to be protected. At the same time, he emphasized that it was about dealing with the situation – but not in crisis mode.
