The Federal Council decided to continue in many areas on May 11 than it had decided two weeks ago. In one and a half weeks, restaurants can ask at tables with four seats. All shops, but also museums, can reopen. All of this, as long as the distance rules are observed, as the government announced.
–
As it is said from the environment of the state government, the opening step took place in great agreement. Health Minister Alain Berset (48, SP) had admitted only two people at the dressing tables and wanted to ban major events for 1,000 or more people until the end of September. But because the majority of the state government asked to continue here, four-seaters can soon be occupied, and major events are only prohibited until August 31.

Federal Council accepts more new infections
According to BLICK information, health experts had signaled to the government that this far-reaching easing of the lockdown would mean that the number of infections would rise slightly. The Federal Council apparently considers this to be justifiable, since the intensive care units in the hospitals no longer reach the capacity limits.
–
In the press conference, however, the government did not reveal which restaurants and shops it would like to close first if the Corona cases increased massively again. If everything goes smoothly, the Federal Council wants to assess the consequences of the opening at its meeting on May 27 and decide on the next easing step on June 8.

Is the Federal Council at odds?
Various media reports had given the impression that the government was divided at the time of the crisis. On the one hand, that was to blame FDP Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis (59) a week ago with the demand that you should open everything earlier. On the other hand, that “NZZ” interview with Finance Minister Ueli Maurer (69, SVP), in which the latter informed the newspaper that he thought the course of the crisis was wrong.
–
However, research paints a different picture: the longer the country has been in a coma, the louder the economy scolded, the FDP doesn’t care. The pressure was enormous. By letting out that he ticked differently than the Federal Council, Cassis calmed his clientele. And that Maurer is out of line in the government is now a good thing. Nobody is bothered by the fact that he takes a stance that everyone knows he has anyway.

Parmelin gets good grades
The statements about Minister of Economy Guy Parmelin (60, SVP) are rather surprising. The Romand hardly ever got away as well as now. He works constructively and weighs between the economic concerns and health aspects, it is said from different sides.
–
Conclusion: The crisis is welding the government together more than it appears from the outside.

That changes on May 11th

The Federal Council is loosening the Corona measures more than announced. From Monday, May 11th:
Reopen restaurants, bars, shops, markets, museums and libraries.
Primary and secondary schools are again teaching in the classroom.
Popular and top athletes train.
Trains, buses and trams run according to a regular timetable.
Cross-border commuters and foreign workers return to Switzerland.
However, all companies and institutions must have a protection concept with which they implement the distance and hygiene rules. Therefore, despite the opening, there will be restrictions.
After that there will be no further easing until June 8th. The Federal Council will decide which openings this will be in June on May 27. Until then, the consequences of the big opening step on May 11th should be analyzed. For this purpose, the comprehensive tracing of new infections is resumed. Cantons should be able to detect infected people at an early stage and isolate them.
