Corona has turned everyday life in the Helios clinics in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald – Müllheim

Dealing with the pandemic and the corona patients: Beatrice Palausch and Hartmut Ehrle-Anhalt report on the work of the regional Helios clinics in the corona crisis.

Helios hospitals in Müllheim, Titisee-Neustadt and Breisach play a central role in the region’s medical care – and thus also in the current corona crisis. The managing director of the clinics, Beatrice Palausch, and the medical director of the Müllheim house, Hartmut Ehrle-Anhalt, report on what measures have been taken to deal with the pandemic and what the day-to-day routine of the clinic is currently like.

BZ: What is the current situation in the three Helios clinics in the district?
Palausch: We have had Covid 19 patients with us since March 13, and now we have patients of all severities in all three houses. From mild infections with mild symptoms to severe courses with intensive ventilation therapy. And, yes, we have already had people die of this disease. The public health office publishes specific figures. We see an increasing curve in the number of cases, but the one in Titisee is currently a bit flatter than in Müllheim. The situation in Breisach is similar to that in Müllheim – with the difference that our intensive care unit in Müllheim is larger and we can care for more patients who require ventilation.
Ehrle-Anhalt: In this context, we would also like to point out the extremely good cooperation with the clinics in Freiburg: Since there are around 200 ventilation places available, we can offer a maximum of 25 ventilation places in the three smaller Helios clinics in the district, so we agree us well and …
