Corona: does Germany close all doors at night? | Currently Germany | DW

The federal and state governments should plan a night curfew nationwide to prevent the spread of mutated corona viruses. The business magazine “Business Insider” claims to have found out from the Chancellery. The only open question is from when to when such a curfew will apply and whether it will only come into force after a certain incidence. In principle, the countries have approved the measure, which is to be decided on Tuesday in the Chancellery.

The Saarland Prime Minister Tobias Hans takes the position that there should be no taboos. This applies “to the subject of curfew, but also to the discussion about working in the home office,” said the CDU politician of the “Rheinische Post” published in Düsseldorf. More vaccination alone does not prevent another lockdown.

The head of the Union faction in the Bundestag, Ralph Brinkhaus, pleaded for a comprehensive expansion of the measures. “Better to do it right now – instead of an endless loop into the summer”, he told the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”.

“Good strategies to make things happen again”

The chairman of the European Ethics Council, Christiane Woopen, contradicts this. She refuses to limit herself to restrictions alone. “Good strategies are needed to make things possible again and at the same time to keep the numbers low,” said Woopen and advocates mass tests. “At the moment, 100 percent of the population is expected to suffer an enormous loss of freedom so that less than one percent does not infect others.” The incidence values could be reduced quickly if almost all German citizens were tested once within two or three weeks.

Thuringia’s Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) expects three more difficult months. He told the news portal t-Online: “Hopefully the better weather and additional vaccines will help us from Easter.”
