It is a phenomenon that can be observed again and again in difficult social situations: If the world threatens to falter with its cornerstones, which are believed to be anchored, the topic of solidarity suddenly becomes relevant again.
Certainly the one now says that this solidarity, or charity, is never gone with him. But in a fast-paced and turbulent world like this, it seems to be forgotten at one time or another.
It is only when everyone is suddenly affected that what a society should actually be: a cooperation, the will and the strength to stand up for one another and to withdraw personally if necessary.
The wiser among us speak of the post-war period, others from ’89, still others from the flood of the century in 2002. It is also not a purely German phenomenon. Whether 9/11 or the devastating tsunami in Thailand 2004 – if you have nothing left or are about to have nothing anymore, you are more solidary than usual – or just show it more.
It is not uncommon to see videos in which hammers are being performed these days. Even if I don’t need a whole staircase of granular cream cheese, let alone be able to ever consume it – first of all, even if it is the last palette.
After me the deluge.

Toilet paper is currently the number 1 topic, why then?
The issue of toilet paper seems to be a particularly big one at the moment. What was only possible with carefree consumption in the new iPhone in front of the Apple store can now be seen in supermarkets. Snakes and almost tumultuous pack formations for the object of desire. Everything for the wiping paper.
Now people are gathering online to help those whom the current corona crisis is one of the worst troubles. Restaurants, bars and cafes remain closed until further notice. If they open, then only under the strictest hygiene regulations.
For the restaurateurs, it was almost the worst case scenario, a scenario that could not have been imagined in the wildest nightmares.
And there it is again, this solidarity. Under the hashtag #gutscheinestattklopapier, there is currently a movement that should make things a little easier for the catering trade.

Coupons so retailers can pay their fixed costs
Instead of filling the cupboard with the “three-layer”, numerous social media users are appealing to invest their money in vouchers from restaurants or cafes.
In the short term, it helps the restaurateurs to be able to cover at least part of the fixed costs despite the doors being closed. In the long term, the customer has the opportunity to redeem this voucher “in better times”.
Of course, this also applies to all other retail stores. Regardless of whether it’s a clothes store, tattoo artist or toy store.
Even if the comparison between #gutscheinestattklopapier and 9/11 or the post-war period lags. Help is what counts. And as you know, it’s the little things.
So, put the phone in your hand or write an email quickly and see if your regular Italian participates. He will thank you.
