Travel agencies are among the big losers in the Corona crisis. First, they had to work hard to bring their customers back to Switzerland from all corners of the world. After that, they were practically only busy with cancellations. Selling trips was out of the question for weeks. The industry was down.
–
Now that one country after the other is opening its borders again and getting ready for the summer vacation, the industry is moving again. The tour operators Hotelplan Suisse and Tui Suisse are ending their Corona travel stops. The travel program will resume on June 15, the two tour operators said in separate communiqués.

France and Croatia
The step is due to the planned border openings in Europe. In addition to holidays in Switzerland, the two travel providers will again offer trips to countries such as France, Germany, Austria or Croatia from June 15th.
–
«We are delighted that summer holidays abroad will now definitely be possible and that our customers will have the opportunity to spend their holidays by the sea again. The announced border openings are a first but important step back to normal, »says Tim Bachmann, CEO of Hotelplan Suisse.

But still a vacation by the sea
It sounds similar at Tui Suisse. “We are pleased that we can now offer holidays by the sea again from mid-June and that the travel summer 2020 can still take place,” says Philipp von Czapiewski, Managing Director at Tui Suisse.
–
However, the travel agencies are still far from normal operation. Despite the easing and the resumption of the travel program, both providers have to cancel bookings again. At Tui Suisse, it is said that trips that cannot be carried out regularly due to entry restrictions would be canceled up to and including June 30.
–
Many cancellations continue
Hotelplan, in turn, cancels vacation packages within Europe up to and including June 21 and trips outside Europe up to and including June 28 that are not yet possible due to the corona pandemic.
–
Hotelplan Suisse includes the travel brands Globus Reisen, Travelhouse, Tourisme Pour Tous, Hotelplan and Migros Ferien. Tui Suisse is the Swiss subsidiary of the German tourism group Tui.

Arrange consultations
Kuoni will again offer trips abroad from June 15th. “The majority of the approximately 80 Kuoni travel agencies in Switzerland are already open again, initially with reduced opening hours,” a spokesman told BLICK. And adds: “In exceptional cases, we recommend arranging consultations over the phone.”
–
Advances in coronavirus containment at home and abroad would most likely allow planning a trip within Europe for the upcoming summer vacation. “Kuoni and its sister brands from DER Touristik Suisse are reacting to this by resuming their product range.” Popular travel destinations such as Spain, Cyprus, Greece or Turkey would prepare for summer tourism for foreign guests.
