Corona: Country calls on older people to vaccinate with AstraZeneca | NDR.de – news

Status: 04/14/2021 5:25 p.m.

The state government appeals to older people to take corona vaccinations with AstraZeneca. Recently, appointments with this vaccine were increasingly canceled.

“We ask people over 60 to be vaccinated with AstraZeneca when it is their turn,” said government spokeswoman Anke Pörksen on Wednesday. This is also an act of solidarity with the younger generation. After all, they would have supported the restrictions to protect the elderly in the past Corona year.

Important for a successful vaccination campaign

In order to quickly achieve vaccination coverage for larger parts of the population, the elderly would have to get involved with the AstraZeneca vaccine, emphasized Poerksen. As is well known, only the two other vaccines from Biontech and Moderna are available for younger people due to the age limit.

Great skepticism towards AstraZeneca

The vaccination centers had reported that in the past few days a large number of vaccinations with AstraZeneca had not been taken by those entitled. In the Aurich district vaccination center alone, a total of almost 150 people did not appear on Saturday and Monday at the agreed times. More than 30 people also refused to be vaccinated with AstraZeneca on site.
