However, there are no fixed hotspots in the controls. “The police direct their intervention according to a constantly updated picture of the situation,” says police spokesman Stefan Bauer. Basically, masks are required in certain areas where the minimum distance is not so easy to keep – such as in Lorenzer Straße with its busy gastronomy, especially during lunchtime.

But also on the station square with the many stops, the mask requirement applies as well as in the Königstraße, the Äußere Laufer Gasse and parts of the Theresienstraße.

Some people may nevertheless be surprised that not everyone who does not wear a mask is immediately approached by officials. “Since the incidence values are constantly changing, corresponding legal adjustments are necessary, which are reflected both in the Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance itself and in the general municipal decree,” says Bauer. According to the principle of proportionality, police intervention will also be adjusted accordingly.
