Corona Cases Continue to Increase, These 4 Countries Again Implement Lockdown

Jakarta

After walking 6 months, the number of cases resulted coronavirus pandemic still increasing in various countries. In Indonesia, DKI Jakarta has finally re-tightened Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) to prevent transmission.

Some countries have also decided to implement lockout policies or lockdown to suppress the number of new cases that keep appearing and increasing day by day. As for some countries that have or have recently implemented lockdown policies, that is detikcom summarized from various sources as follows:

1. Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would go into a national lockdown for three weeks, starting next Friday. This was done to contain the spread of the Corona virus after the second wave of new cases COVID-19.

During the lockdown, Israelis were still allowed to travel to workplaces that were operating on a limited basis. Schools and shopping centers will be closed, but supermarkets and pharmacies will still be allowed to open.

“I know these steps will incur a heavy price for all of us,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying by Reuters on Monday (9/14/2020).

This lockdown policy is said to be stricter than last April, when the Corona virus first entered the country.

2. France

The French government will discuss plans to implement a lockdown policy in several of its regions. This decision was taken regarding the Corona cases which are still increasing and will be the second lockdown during this pandemic.

“We will not exclude anything,” said a spokesman for the French government, Gabriel Attal, quoted by Reuters.

Until now, 20 major cities are being monitored by the central government, including Bordeaux, Marseille and other regions. However, Chairman of the French Council of Scientists Jean-Francois Delfraissy said the government must move quickly so that the spread of this virus can be controlled properly.

“We have to do everything we can to prevent a lockdown, but in risky areas you can consider strict restrictions to prevent large crowds,” he explained.

3. Myanmar

After Myanmar reported a spike in COVID-19 cases, the local government plans to tighten lockdown policies in its largest city, Yangon. At present, the COVID-19 cases in the country reach more than 2,000 people.

To prevent the spread of this virus, the government has imposed a lockdown. However, because cases are still increasing, it ultimately requires that one third of the population in Yangon remain at home. Quoted from Reuters, Yangon City is the epicenter of the Corona virus in Myanmar.

In addition, the local government has closed schools and other restrictions, such as restrictions on entry to Yangon and the capital city of Naypyitaw. However, the government there has not closed offices, factories and government institutions, so that they can still work even at home.

4. New Zealand

After being free from new cases of Corona, New Zealand finally pushed the government to reintroduce lockdown, especially in Auckland. However, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the lockdown would be reviewed again next week.

The review contains the lifting of lockdowns that have been implemented across the country on September 21, 2020, except for the city of Auckland which is the center of New Zealand’s second wave. Quoted from ABC Net, if the change occurs the new regulations will take effect on September 23, 2020.
