1,741 new corona cases were reported in the past 7-day period. This corresponds to a current incidence of 68.4. 92,499 Hamburg residents have been infected since the pandemic began, and around 86,500 people are considered to have recovered.
Around 1,336,000 people have already received a corona vaccination; the series of vaccinations is completed at around 1,276,000. 87.5 percent of those over 60 years of age have received a vaccination, and 78.3 percent of those aged 18 to 59 have been vaccinated at least once. Around 41 percent of 12 to 17 year olds have received at least one vaccination.

The so-called delta variant is currently the predominant variant of the virus in Hamburg. Other Virus variants have so far only been detected in individual cases. Furthermore, examinations are carried out as part of a randomly selected sample and in the event of certain indications in order to discover a possible increase in certain variants at an early stage.
People who have received full vaccination protection are effectively protected against severe disease from 14 days after the completed series of vaccinations – usually after the second vaccination. Of the 1,216,076 vaccination series completed by September 20, there were 1,724 cases in Hamburg in which a person was infected and symptoms developed despite the vaccination. That corresponds to a share of 0.14 percent so-called vaccination breakthroughs. Hospital treatment was required in a total of 130 cases, including intensive care treatment in 16 cases.
In the 39th calendar week A total of 1,380 corona infections have been recorded by the health authorities. 82 cases this week go back to the 0 to 5 year olds, 268 cases to the 6 to 14 year olds, 92 cases to the 15 to 19 year olds. The age group of 20 to 29 year olds is affected with 249 cases; the age group of 30 to 39 year olds with 256 cases. 176 cases relate to the 40 to 49 year olds, 123 cases relate to the 50 to 59 year olds. 41 cases this week can be assigned to the 60 to 69 year olds, 84 cases to the over 70 year olds.
With regard to the identified cases, it must be taken into account that schoolchildren are continuously and compulsorily tested. In this age segment, all infections should therefore be identified, while in no other age segment comparable regular tests are carried out.
For 63 cases is the Assignment to an outbreak event possible, there are a total of 23 identified outbreaks (from two people). A large part of the outbreak situations within Hamburg are still related to the private environment or the household (12 outbreaks with 31 cases), but there are also three outbreaks in care facilities with a total of 15 cases; an outbreak that has already been registered in the context of a restaurant and an outbreak at a workplace have not yet been included in the statistics.

The RKI now reports a total of 1,741 deceasedwho were also infected with the corona virus. Among all over 90-year-olds from Hamburg infected with SARS-CoV-2, the proportion of deceased is currently around 24.6 percent, among 80 to 89-year-olds around 20.2 percent, among 70 up to 79-year-olds around 10.5 percent, among 60- to 69-year-olds around 2.3 percent. In all other age segments, significantly less than one percent of those infected died.
