In Portugal, the corona numbers are increasing again

Many people look forward to a pleasant vacation. But a trip to Portugal should perhaps be reconsidered. In the popular holiday destination, the corona numbers are increasing again due to the spread of the more contagious omicron subvariant BA.5.

108,910 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.

Compared to the previous week, there is almost one tripling.

However, on Thursday last week it was in six federal states Holidayalong with the reporting strikes by the authorities, which have meanwhile become customary.

The 7-day incidence is increasing today in all 16 federal states.

Bayern and Rhineland-Palatinate With yesterday’s corona reports, we again exceeded the threshold of 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days.

To the west now lies only Baden-Wuerttemberg at an incidence below 500.

At the district level, the 1000 incidences are already spreading again.

Two weeks ago today, only one of the more than 400 urban and rural districts in Germany had a four-digit incidence. A week ago today it was nine, yesterday eleven – and already 25 today.

A good half of the 25 are in Lower Saxony (7) and NRW (6).
