JAKARTA – The Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto this morning went to the Kertalangu Cultural Village, Bali to provide support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) local. The chairman of the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery believes that encouraging the revival of local MSMEs is the right step in accelerating economic recovery.
“In the context of economic recovery, Indonesia needs the business world including local MSMEs to immediately revive,” said Airlangga in his statement, Saturday (22/8/2020).

Airlangga added that MSMEs have a big role in Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The MSME business scale segment employs around 116.9 million people so that in 2018 it is able to absorb 97% of the national workforce. In terms of the number of business actors, in the same year, MSMEs contributed 61% to GDP.
Some of these achievements reflect that MSMEs play a major role in contributing to economic growth. Therefore, according to him, it is necessary to support the business world including MSMEs so that the Indonesian economy does not experience a deep slowdown and is able to grow in the third and fourth quarters of 2020.

“We will implement this implementation in the form of distributing KUR to raise local MSMEs for the National Economic Recovery today,” he said.
In order to accelerate economic recovery requires encouragement from all parties including the central government, local governments, KUR channeling agencies, KUR guarantor, and the participation of local MSMEs. It is hoped that local MSMEs can rise up so that they can help the national economy.
