Cooperation of transmission system operators from Central Europe

Transmission system operators (TSOs) from Central and Eastern Europe – Gaz-System from Poland, Transgaz from Romania, Eustream from Slovakia and FGSZ from Hungary – signed a strategic partnership agreement to recognize the possibility of decarbonising their operations, the transmission of renewable gases and the possibility of CO2 transport , Gaz-System reported.

“At the initiative of the Romanian transmission system operator Transgaz, as part of a four-party partnership of companies from Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Romania, close cooperation was initiated to meet the challenges set together. First, the agreement provides for the exchange of best practices in the field of hydrogen and CO2 transport, decarbonisation of transport gas and hydrogen production; then – the identification of hydrogen markets and hydrogen applications in individual industries; and, as a final step, the development of an appropriate regulatory framework, ‘the release reads.

The value of regional cooperation

According to the plan, the result of the cooperation between transmission system operators is also the preparation of a feasibility study.

“To extend the scope of cooperation, the initiative will remain open to other interested TSOs from the region. The agreement supports all initiatives that favor the development of hydrogen in the CEE region and draw attention to the regional specificity as part of the creation of an integral hydrogen network in the European Union” – it was noted.

Gaz-System is a strategic company for the Polish economy. Responsible for the transmission of natural gas and manages the most important gas pipelines in Poland.
