Continuing on the Path Taken: A Call to Reform | The New Day

Despite the absurd neo-socializing context that the current government has been trying to build with destabilizing political purposes, apparently the risk was overcome in which Minister Corcho took over the current health system to replace it with one of a state nature. , destroying the path traveled, referring us in a clear setback, to the one that once and deficiently operated in Colombia under the name of the Social Security Institute, of ungrateful memory for the majority of Colombians.

Fortunately, the good sense of the bulk of the opinion reflected in the polls led Congress to show solidarity with the majorities by making the votes that in the first instance suggested its approval end up rejecting the clumsy reform.

But there “the horrible night did not stop”, as soon as another deceit occurred, embodied in another reform project condensed in 77 articles -which many judge as “revenge” for the defeat of the health-, this one of a labor nature and designed under an anachronistic pro-union orientation and definitely anti-business.

And it is that in this new monstrosity, not only is an orbital reality contradicted, but the battered economy of the country is affected, since it goes against the current labor flexibility that is imposed throughout the world derived from the implementation of virtuality and new technologies such as online or remote work from home, or modalities that are no longer so new and effective such as temporary jobs; it sharpens inflation, which is already out of bounds; It contributes to the country’s economic slowdown, and increases production costs by threatening formal employment and stimulating unemployment and informality since it threatens productivity by trying to reduce the work week to 42 hours and the 6 a.m. workday to 6 pm and increase the remuneration for Sundays and holidays, thus discouraging the investment that economic growth is demanding.

But the most serious thing is that all this is raised without considering the level differences between large, medium, small and/or micro-enterprises, leading the latter to their disappearance, failing to recognize that the vast majority of the country’s working masses are made up of those who work in small-sized productive units or are part of the great mass of informal workers who subsist on doing occasional jobs or tasks and the army of unemployed that swarms in our cities.

Invincible proclivity to radicalism, lack of knowledge of economic reality (and what about the finance minister?) or whatever the cause of such ill-advised projects, the truth is that they are accompanied by rhetorical clothing that aims to inflame passions, cloud reason . and divide the country.

Let’s make a region and support ours!
