Continuation Leaving Neverland in the making, team Jackson wants to stop project | NOW

There is a sequel in the making Leaving Neverland, the documentary in which Wade Robson and James Safechuck talk about the alleged abuse of Michael Jackson that they would have experienced as a child. However, the singer’s companies have sued director Dan Reed so that the project can be ended, reports Deadline Thursday.

According to the film site, Reed was recently seen in a Los Angeles court, where he was present with the camera at the renewed trial brought by Robson and Safechuck. On Wednesday, it was announced that the judge was the case of Safechuck rejected.

However, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, Jackson’s companies, do not want a follow-up to the high-profile 2019 documentary. They have sued Reed and his production company and demand that the material produced be handed over to them.

The lawyer team of the singer who died in 2009 also believes that Reed is not a real journalist and that the image in Leaving Neverland created is too one-sided. In addition, they want the documentary maker to no longer be allowed to film in court.

Reed then filed a motion stating that he is a resident of Great Britain and that his company is not located in California. This makes it more difficult for the judge to oblige the director to hand in the recorded material.

In addition, he argues that he has no personal connection with either Robson or Safechuck and that they are not paid for their cooperation on the documentary.

First part won several prizes

Robson testified in favor of Jackson in 1993 and 2005 and denied any abuse. In 2013, however, he went to court to indict the singer. His complaint was declared inadmissible because of his previous testimony.

Safechuck also went to court in 2014, but his case was dismissed a year later. In Leaving Neverland they spoke at length about the alleged abuse. The HBO documentary won a BAFTA and an Emmy.
