Continental is best known as a supplier of technological solutions and a manufacturer of tires, yet it boasted its own concept in Munich.

The basis of the electric concept called AMBIENC3 has become the iconic Volkswagen T2, which at first glance attracts with its distinctive painting and special Continental tires worn on retro rims. Inside, the car offers innovative and sustainable materials as well as the latest technologies.
The concept was to be designed as a so-called “third space” between home and work, which in the future era of autonomous mobility will offer the crew the opportunity to work and relax on the road. However, fans of the classic procedure will not be deprived of theirs either.

At the front is a minimalist cockpit, which attracts with a rectangular steering wheel, a wooden dashboard, a large screen digital instrument panel and a large display in place of the rearview mirror. However, in addition to looking back, the display also offers a 360 ° view of the car’s surroundings. The steering column apparently remained the same, as did the speed selector. But there are only two pedals in the front.
An interesting feature of the wooden dashboard is the absence of any visible controls, yet they are here. As with the Nissan Ariya, the control “buttons” are hidden in the surface of the dashboard and only light up when the car is in use. The dashboard can thus look elegantly clean.

The driver’s seat does not look egonomic, but is upholstered in a material called “stay new”, which promises high resistance to stains and dirt, while being economically affordable and environmentally friendly.
The back of the driver’s seat is interestingly connected by the rear chaise longue, behind which the upholstered bench with marble-style paneling continues. After all, the illuminated marble also adorns the ceiling of the concept. In addition, Continental used the space between the driver’s seat and the mentioned chaise longue to place the SMEG coffee machine.

At the back, behind the right sliding door, there is a comfortable armchair, which is lined with wood and also offers a wooden side table. In addition to wooden decor, natural, renewable or recycled materials and textiles are widely used in the interior.
The car is also equipped with an Ac2ated Sound System without speakers, a solar roof panel or smart windows with an automatic dimming and heating function. In addition, the car should be equipped with the eTravel Companion system, which is an interactive and personalized system offering various tips and recommendations on the road. However, Continental does not mention the details of the electric drive.
