contaminations still on the rise in Center-Val de Loire

France recorded, on November 18, 2021, 20,366 new cases of Covid-19. A figure that the country had not known since last August. In Center-Val de Loire, since mid-October, the incidence rates have continued to climb.

The Covid-19 epidemic is gradually resuming in France. All indicators are on the rise. In 24 hours, more than 20,000 new cases have been identified on the territory, November 18, 2021. If they remain, for the moment, below the national average, contaminations are also increasing in Center-Val de Loire.

Incidence rates are climbing

Now, all metropolitan departments have exceeded the alert threshold for the incidence rate, set at 50 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants. According to data from Public Health France, over the period from November 9 to 15, 2021, this rate climbs in the region to 94.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Or an increase of more than 15% in 7 days. A high rate, however, lower than the national rate which stands at 119.6.

However, the situations differ according to the departments. Loiret is, for the moment, the least affected with 79.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Eure-et-Loir and Indre which record a respective incidence rate of 82.4 and 86, 1. The symbolic threshold of 100 contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants is approaching dangerously (92.1) for Loir-et-Cher. In Indre-et-Loire, it has already been exceeded with 108.5, as well as in the Cher where the incidence rate reached 130.9.

Since November 15, 2021, wearing a mask at school is now compulsory everywhere in France, after having been limited to certain departments where the Covid-19 was gaining ground. An indicator that clearly shows the general resumption of the epidemic. To contain it, the government, through the Minister of Health, recalled the need for vaccination to protect the population. “If we were 100% vaccinated, the virus would have much, much more trouble circulating“, repeated Olivier Véran at the microphone of RTL on November 18.

According to the latest figures from the Center-Val de Loire Regional Health Agency, 87.5% of the regional population is fully vaccinated and 88.9% has received at least a first dose. From December 15, a third dose of vaccine will be mandatory for people 65 years of age and over, as well as for people at risk. This booster dose is also recommended for people over 50 for a new vaccination campaign which begins on December 1. In an interview with the Voix du Nord, Emmanuel Macron has, for the moment, ruled out the idea of generalizing this third dose to the entire population but warns: “If it turns out that a third dose is effective and necessary for other audiences, obviously, it will be integrated into the logic of the health pass.

Vaccination centers are back in service

To carry out this strategy, the government spokesperson, Gabriel Attal indicated that the vaccination centers would resume activity. “With the increase in injections linked to the vaccination booster, today for those over 65 and tomorrow for those over 50, this can lead vaccination centers which had closed – or which had reduced the wing – to resume an activity“, does he have declared on LCI. These vaccination centers can be found on the ARS Center-Val de Loire website. As with the first vaccination campaign, appointments are made by phone or via the Doctolib platform.

This epidemic resumption throughout Europe has forced Austria to re-confine its population starting November 22. A scenario that does not envisage at all – including for unvaccinated people – Emmanuel Macron, still in the columns of the Voix du Nord: “The countries that confine the unvaccinated are those that have not implemented the pass. This measure is therefore not necessary in France.
