Consultation hour “Children of parents with cancer” (ANKKER)

When one parent develops cancer, the entire family is affected: insecurity, worries, everyday organization and treatment routines are a burden for the family members. Children cannot be shielded from a parent’s cancer – because of their fine antennae, they often have an intuitive feel for the situation.

As part of the “Children of Parents with Cancer” consultation hour, we would like to work with you to find answers and ways in which you can cope with the effects of the disease on your children and their families.

Our advisory services are aimed at parents as well as children and young people.

  • Advising parents with cancer in their role as parents in dealing with cancer
  • Helping children to express their concerns, clarify questions and overcome difficulties that arise
  • Professional support so that the family can start a conversation together, usually starting with a conversation with parents
  • Further discussions with parents, discussions with the children (individually or as siblings) or family discussions as required
