Conforama bought by Goal: all jobs saved

This Wednesday, July 8 was marked by two good news on the economic front, despite the litany of social plans related to the coronavirus crisis. More than 2,500 jobs will be saved by the Beaumanoir group, which is preparing to take over almost all of the fashion business of the La Halle brand, while Conforama, the furniture specialist, will be acquired by Mobilux, the parent company of its competitor Aim.

Regarding the latter, union representatives welcomed the finalization of this agreement with a lot of relief : “This is very good news for employees and the sustainability of Conforama France“says Mouloud Hammour, secretary of CSE Conforama who represents Force Ouvrière, adding that”it was time to turn the page“.

The trade unionist is satisfied that “the agreement does not provide for any abolition of posts and takes over all the establishments of Conforama France“. 165 stores are therefore saved by this agreement, as is the employment of 6,300 employees of the group. However, staff representatives remain vigilant as they fear a probable merger of the headquarters of But and Conforama, which could lead to job losses in the future.
