CONFLICT – Two US soldiers die in an attack claimed by the Taliban in Afghanistan

Two US soldiers were killed and two others wounded on Saturday in southern Afghanistan, in an attack with a handmade bomb that was claimed by the Taliban, NATO’s mission in the country reported.

A spokesman for the Atlantic Alliance said the attack occurred near the city of Kandahar. A Taliban official said that the occupants of the military vehicle had died in the explosion.

“Two members of the US forces were killed and two others were injured during a mission, when an artisanal bomb exploded in Kandahar province,” said Resolute Support spokesman, the Atlantic Alliance mission in the country.

The attack occurred near the city of Kandahar, in the Dand district, the spokesman of the provincial police, Jamal Nasir Barkzai, had indicated part-time.

“Foreign forces patrolled near Kandahar airport when the explosion happened,” Barkzai told AFP.

The US government and the Taliban officially have to resume talks for an agreement to withdraw Washington forces from the country.
