Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will provide social assistance for workers who are paid under Rp. 5 million.
This was included in the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN) delivered directly by Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Wednesday (5/8/2020).
“In the future, the acceleration of spending is carried out to protect the public, increasing their ability to handle Covid-19,” Sri Mulyani said.
In terms of shopping, there will be additional social assistance [bantuan sosial] up to Rp 30 trillion for 12 million MSME and ultra micro actors. Then, additional rice purchase assistance is also for 10 million people with a budget of Rp 4.6 trillion.
“The cash bill was also added to Rp 500 thousand with a budget of Rp 5 trillion. And social assistance is also for salaries that they earn below Rp. 5 million, with a target of 13 million people and a budget of around Rp 31 trillion,” he explained.
The total budget for this expenditure all reaches Rp 203 trillion. It is expected that public consumption can recover so that purchasing power is also maintained.
“The government is also pushing for sectoral ministries and agencies to encourage government spending to support economic recovery,” said Sri Mulyani.
