Economic growth has created many new jobs in the district. This also affects traffic.

The commuter flows in the district have changed considerably in recent years, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Hanau-Gelnhausen-Schluechtern reports on the basis of its new commuter analysis. Frankfurt was still the main destination for commuters from the Main-Kinzig district, but the neighboring regions and the Main-Kinzig district had gained in importance.

Economic growth has created many new jobs in the district. Between 2013 and 2019 there were a total of 19,737. This is an increase of 16.6 percent and thus more than in many neighboring counties, excluding the Offenbach district (plus 19 percent). At the same time, the distance traveled by the commuters in the district only increased by 4.2 percent, because many commuters could have switched to closer workplaces.
