Community Efforts to Vaccinate Against the Flu in Gai: Local Hospital Provides Vaccination Services

In the first half of the day, vaccination room No. 217 in the city hospital is busy. In the queue are an elderly couple: “We came to protect ourselves from the flu,” a young couple: “We are going to go on vacation, vaccination is required,” a middle-aged man: “So at work they require vaccination.”

Chief physician of the city hospital A.V. Fedosov informed that Gai residents care about their health, so they come to the vaccination office on their own to get a flu shot. In accordance with the Decree of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation dated June 21, 2023 N 9 “On measures to prevent influenza, acute respiratory viral infections and new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the epidemic season of 2023-2024” it is necessary to ensure that the population is vaccinated against influenza covering up to 60% of the population of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation, including at least 75% of persons belonging to risk groups.

Patients can get vaccinated on the day of visiting the vaccination office of the adult and children’s clinic from 8.30 to 15.30 daily from Monday to Friday. Today, the vaccination team is actively working. Upon prior request, a visit was made to the administration of the Gaisky District, to the housing and communal services department.

A.V. Fedosov clarified that the vaccination team’s visits to institutions are carried out upon prior request.
The management of PJSC Gaisky GOK allocated funds for the purchase of more than 3,000 doses of influenza vaccine for employees of the enterprise. The management of the Gaiskaya Poultry Farm agricultural production company intends to purchase the vaccine for workers.

Ministry of Health of the Orenburg Region reminds that vaccination should be done in advance, it cannot be considered as an emergency measure, it takes at least 14 days to develop immunity to the virus.

The current epidemiological situation in the region is characterized by a seasonal increase in incidence, typical for September. Based on the results of laboratory examination, rhinoviruses are predominantly isolated from patients.

The Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the Orenburg Region reminds that a component of prevention is a healthy lifestyle: hardening, strengthening the immune system, proper nutrition, physical activity, giving up bad habits.
