Pandeglang (ANTARA) – In commemoration of World AIDS Day, the Pandeglang Regency Government, through the local Health Service, held a seminar on strengthening commitments in the prevention and control of HIV/Aids, STIs, and Hepatitis for health workers in primary health facilitation held at the secretariat of the Indonesian Midwives Association. , IBI Pandeglang. Along with the goal of world Aids day, HAS 2021 Pandeglang District Health Office in collaboration with the Indonesian Doctors Association, IDI Pandeglang, Indonesian Midwives Association, IBI Pandeglang held a series of activities in commemoration of World Aids Day 2021.

Commemoration of World Aids Day in 2021 with a national theme, end Aids, prevent HIV, access for all, is intended to increase knowledge, awareness, and self-reliance of the community in the prevention and control of HIV/Aids and sexually transmitted infections, STIs through resource mobilization involving all related sectors.

The Head of the Pandeglang District Health Office, Raden Dewi Setiani, said the series of activities to commemorate Aids Day 2021 was aimed at increasing community knowledge, awareness and independence in preventing infection and transmission of HIV/Aids and STIs. In addition, strengthening integrated collaboration between various stakeholders in implementing the prevention and control of HIV/Aids and STIs and then increasing the mobilization of resources in ending Aids as a public health threat.

“As for the activities that we are holding with a series of activities in commemoration of World AIDS Day in 2021, among them we hold a celebration of triple elimination of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis for pregnant women simultaneously in 36 health centers with a target of 3,600 pregnant women. Dewi added that the commemoration of World Aids Day 2021 is expected to achieve the expected goals with the involvement of all interested parties, as a concrete step in achieving the end of Aids 2030.

However, this number decreased when compared to the cases in 2020 which reached 62 cases. According to him, when compared to 2019, the increase in cases of PLWHA in Pandeglang Regency jumped, reaching 62 people. while in 2019 only 20 cases. However, this year the trend of HIV/Aids cases has decreased again, with a total of 47 cases. he said, people with HIV/Aids cannot die instantly, but the process is quite long, which is around 12-15 years. However, he emphasized that the disease could not be cured.

He further explained, within one year his party has been intense in conducting data collection, because currently in Pandeglang Regency it has been able to carry out detection services in 36 health centers and two hospitals in Pandeglang Regency. So that this will be maximized in knowing cases of HIV/Aids in Pandeglang. However, he admitted, currently there are only three places for medical services. Namely in Berkah Hospital, Panimbang Health Center, and Labuan.

“But what is certain for new cases in 2021 until now are 47 positive cases, last year 62, last year there were around 20. Hopefully there won’t be any more, our detection has started well, maybe people who are at risk of contracting HIV. services for treatment, if our detection is in 36 health centers and 2 hospitals, but for our treatment services there are only 3 places.
