Comedian Aubert Pallascio Dies

Comedian Aubert Pallascio, known for his roles in several major Quebec series, died on Sunday of cancer at the age of 82.

The actor’s sister, Marcelle Pallascio, sent a note to the media and posted a message on Facebook, Monday morning, to announce her departure.

Then, in an interview with the QMI Agency, Ms. Pallascio said that her brother’s illness had been dazzling: Aubert Pallascio had been diagnosed with cancer just three months ago. The family prefers to silence the nature of the cancer that afflicted Mr. Pallascio, but assures that COVID-19 has nothing to do with his death.

“He left very quickly,” said Marcelle Pallascio, who spoke of his brother as an actor “very significant in Quebec”, recognized for his extreme generosity, both with his work comrades and with the members of his family, his kindness and his great attachment to his job.

Marcelle Pallascio also emphasized that Aubert Pallascio has supported many charities in his life, and that he never hesitated to support young artists and creators in their projects.

Aubert Pallascio spent his last moments at the St-Raphaël Palliative Care Home in Montreal.

Born in 1937 and trained at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Paris, the man who also made a career under the name of Louis Aubert was active in the theater, television, cinema and dubbing circles. His professional career, spanning more than sixty years, has notably led him to the stages of the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde (TNM), the Théâtre du Rideau Vert, the Théâtre Denise-Pelletier, Le Trident and the Company Jean Duceppe, to name only these scenes.

He was also numerous teletheatres at Radio-Canada, and several productions in the cinema. On the big screen, he notably lent his voice to actor Morgan Freeman.

According to his obituary, Aubert Pallascio is survived by his sisters Maryse (Michel Bigras), Roseline, Sylvie, Marcelle (Jean-Marie Moncelet), Hélène; his nephews Christophe Richelet, David Montpetit, Mathieu and Simon Bigras, as well as their spouses, his nieces Valérie, Pia and his spouse, his many grand-nephews and grand-nieces, the cousins ​​of the Massicotte and Pallascio families.

Aubert Pallascio’s family will receive the sympathies of relatives and friends and the public on July 18 and 19, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Memoria Funeral Home (1115 Laurier Street West, in Outremont). Wearing a mask will be mandatory. A Word ceremony with testimonies will take place on July 19 at 3 p.m.

On Facebook, where Marcelle Pallascio also published the obituary of her brother, expressions of sympathy poured in.

The comedians Louis-Olivier Mauffette, Nathalie Coupal, Dominique Pétin, Stéfan Perreault, Guillaume Champoux, Sophie Clément and Guy Thauvette, the director Martine Beaulne and the playwright Michel Marc Bouchard, among others, went there with comforting words and praise for the deceased.

“Sadness. All my condolences. He was a great man! ” wrote Michel Tremblay.

“Rest in peace Dear Aubert”, greeted the actor Patrice Coquereau on Twitter, where also spoke the parliamentary leader of the Parti Quebecois and deputy of Matane-Matapedia, Pascal Bérubé.

“A wonderful actor is leaving us,” said the politician.
