Colruyt will also sell self-tests for corona virus from Thursday…

Colruyt will start selling Covid self-tests in all branches from Thursday 2 December, the supermarket chain reports in a press release. “With this we offer an answer to the demand of our customers”, it reads. The self-tests will cost 3.5 euros each.

Colruyt has received more and more questions from customers in recent days to be able to purchase self-tests in their supermarket. “Everyone wants to do their part in trying to get the pandemic under control and self-testing is playing an increasingly important role in this,” says Geert Elen, division manager at Colruyt Lowest Prices. “People want to protect themselves and their family and friends. We would like to meet this by offering self-tests for sale in all our Colruyt Lowest Prices stores.”

Self-tests can also be purchased online via Newpharma.be, the online pharmacy of the Colruyt Group.

Colruyt only sells qualitative self-tests that have been approved by the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products, the supermarket chain reports.

The self-tests were initially only sold by pharmacies, but from July the supermarkets will also be allowed to sell the tests. Until now, however, the large supermarkets have held off. Self-tests were only for sale in supermarket chain Alvo, just like at Kruidvat drugstore. A survey by Belga on 26 November shows that the other supermarkets are not planning to offer self-tests in all stores for the time being.
