Colombia received this Saturday a new donation of vaccines against covid-19 from the United States Government, as announced by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
This was confirmed by Germán Escobar, Deputy Minister of Public Health and Provision of Services, who explained that this is the result of the diplomatic agenda and the relations between the two governments. Also, he pointed out that This batch received is the first of two batches that will arrive, with a total of 2,016,000 doses.

“EThis first batch is 1,008,000 Janssen vaccines (single application), from the United States, continuing to support national efforts in the process of vaccination against covid-19 for the migrant population who is in Colombia or is transiting through the country,” Escobar said.
Similarly, he recalled that this donation was consolidated in the framework of the meeting between the President of the Republic of Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez, and the President of the United States, Joe Biden last March.

On the other hand, Escobar noted that Colombia during 2021 had already received donations from the US government, which are represented by 2.5 million doses from the Janssen laboratory and another 3.5 million doses from the Moderna laboratory.
So far, with this lot, the country has received 99,166,854 doses, from all laboratories and through all mechanisms, including 2.1 million doses acquired by the private sector.
