Colombia received 2.1 million Sinovac vaccines against covid | Government | Economy

Colombia received this Friday a new batch of 2.1 million vaccines from Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac that are part of the Covax mechanism and that will be destined, mainly, for first and second doses for boys and girls between 3 and 11 years old.

As we had announced, 2.1 million vaccines arrived from the Sinovac laboratory through a multilateral mechanism.“, affirmed the Vice Minister of Public Health and Provision of Services, Germán Escobar, quoted in a statement.

He added that “This arrival is the first delivery of three shipments that will be made before the end of the year and that will add 6.3 million vaccines from this pharmaceutical company“.

These doses will go to minors because “have high security, given the platform, which have scientifically evidenced a good behavior and profile in the pediatric population“.

With this new batch, Colombia has received 79,780,304 doses of vaccines against covid-19, which is why the Government is calling for citizens who have not been immunized to do so.

In development of the National Vaccination Plan, on Tuesday 284,875 doses were applied against covid-19, of which 143,518 correspond to second doses and 15,924 to the single-dose formula of the pharmaceutical company Janssen.

With this, there are already 63,453,700 doses applied in Colombia and 27,724,189 people have their complete vaccination schedule, while 2,906,051 citizens have received booster doses.
