For a few years now, Colombians have been at the top of that ranking, because if we look at the latest edition of the Latin Grammy Awards, the national musicians were highlighted for their live shows and for being nominated in 22 of the 53 categories of the award.
Now, according to the PwC Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2021-2025 report, the total revenue from recorded music on physical media was $5.417 million last year and on digital media it was $23.539 million. By 2025, these figures are expected to be $4.182 billion and $29.67 billion, respectively.
In the case of Colombia, recorded music moved 52 million dollars in 2021 and this business is expected to reach 76 million in 2025, as Colombian artists continue to make their way into the international arena.
Last Thursday, November 18, the ceremony for the twenty-second delivery of the Latin Grammy Awards took place. Several Colombian artists stood out in this edition, including Juliana Velásquez, Camilo and Juanes.
These last two are mentioned again, but in the list of the 2022 Grammys English version that were announced by the Academy of Music in November of last year. This edition has the particularity that two categories were included: ‘Best Overall Musical Performance‘ Y ‘;best urban Latin music album’, which Juanes won in the last edition of the Academy Awards, Latin version.
It is this last category that drags several Colombian artists in the highest music awards ceremony, adding a total of eight who compete with big names at the regional level.
Juanes, J Balvin, Karol G, Kali Uchis, Camilo, Electric Diamond, Paula Arenas and Stereo Bomb they will look for the prized gramophone in three different categories. These are:
