Cologne: At Ford, the Fiesta production lines are still idle

Ford in Cologne is on short-time work due to the supply crisis for electronic components. Because there are no semiconductors, no more Fiesta will be produced. The stop will go until November 19th, Ford has announced. Production has been interrupted since September, the stop has already been extended several times.

The majority of the around 5,000 employees involved in Fiesta production are affected by short-time working. That is about one in three at Ford in Cologne. Not only is Ford struggling with the chip shortage, other manufacturers are also affected. Car buyers therefore have to wait a long time for their new car, often up to six months. E-cars are particularly affected. Cars are often more expensive because there are hardly any discounts, and used car prices are also rising.
