Collision Between Train and Concrete Truck at Efteling Results in Minor Injuries for Visitors

A number of Efteling visitors were slightly injured in a collision between a steam train and a rotating concrete truck around one o’clock on Tuesday afternoon. It went wrong near the Joris en de Draak attraction, where trucks are currently driving in connection with the construction of the new Danse Macabre attraction. The locomotive was hit, after which the train came to a stop.

According to a spokesperson for Efteling, it is still unclear what went wrong. “Maybe there was something wrong with the signaling or the driver of the truck wasn’t paying attention. We still have to find out.”

The steam train runs daily in circles along a large part of Efteling. The attraction was closed for some time after the collision. The steam train was damaged and must be repaired, the spokesperson said. “But we have a second train, we have now deployed it.”

The injured visitors were taken to a first aid station as a precaution, but no one had to be taken to the hospital.

Earlier in the day, a fire broke out in the amusement park at theater Raveleijn.
