College students privileged by a creative musical adventure in Couiza

80 students, between 12 and 15 years old, took part in this adventure of artistic creation. At the end of the workshops, each class presented their compositions. A musical but also a human discovery.

The association La Claranda is known for organizing live shows, in particular world music, roaming throughout the territory of the Haute Vallée de l’Aude.

We know less, on the other hand, that it involves artists in schools, within the framework of mediation actions. In this context, and thanks to the involvement of management (Ms. Doan) and the music education teacher (Ms. Sicard) that the 4th year students of Couiza college got involved, alongside the Toulouse musical duo, Cirla Trolonge, in the adventure.

Isabelle Cirla (bass clarinet) and Joël Trolonge (double bass) particularly like to investigate sounds, share them and lead the audience to experience them.

The Couizan college students were thus accompanied in a collective sound creation of improvisation focused on a work.

In the adventure of artistic creation

The technique of Sound painting (a new form of communication in the classroom and the creation of a text from the sound recordings produced) had been initiated to them last year by their teachers. This experience therefore follows on from the work already carried out in 2019, which aroused the enthusiasm of teachers, but also of students. Nearly 80 students between 12 and 15 years old took part in the adventure in November. “ When we close our eyes we can open our ears .

The pupils had at their disposal an instrumentarium made up of various instruments, but also everyday sound objects collected by the musicians.

From a text, the pupils were invited to let their imagination and creativity speak. Thanks to the portable studio, the recordings of the compositions will remain.

At the end of the workshops, each class presented their compositions. They turn out to be a vector of communication for the students, the feedback they have given from them is very positive and enthusiastic. They even evoke the fact that they rediscover each other.

For the director, the CPE and the social worker who attended the restitution “ live ” groups : “ It is a privilege to have been able to benefit from a full day per class of this quality intervention “.

For Ms. Sicard, professor of music education “ the moment lived is intense and rich, the students now want to go further and this demonstrates a great success in their education not only musical “.

Finally, the La Claranda association emphasizes the involvement of the structure on the territory in the training of young generations, despite the period of health crisis that the world is currently experiencing.
