Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci drive dementia – ČT24 – Czech Television

The first British trailer introduces the film as a combination of LGBT romance and drama, in which the protagonist has to deal with his own mortality. While Tusker (Stanley Tucci) loses his notion of presence, Sam (Colin Firth) begins to rethink what twenty years of loving relationship has meant to him personally because of the situation. The journey they take in a car with a trailer will reveal even hidden secrets.

Name Supernova refers to Tusker’s growing fascination with astronomy, as revealed by the first shots of the trailer. In addition to examples of great acting scenes, the film trailer also boasts many shots of the British landscape. The film was shot mainly in the Lake District region in northwest England.

Supernova had its world premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival. The first reviews describe the work as an intimate drama in which the central acting couple once again proves their talents.

The supernova is supposed to shine

The director and screenwriter of the film is Harry Macqueen, who has so far left his mark mainly as an actor in many short films. His directorial debut Hinterland (2014) about a pair of friends who meet after years without contact, stated at several world festivals. Supernova is his second feature project.

Already in the trailer, however, more attention is being given to the film’s producers, who have participated in many remarkable British films over the past decade. Trailer Supernovu he associates with an Oscar-nominated drama 45 let (2015), in which an aging couple celebrates a significant anniversary.

(Almost) Oscar-winning actors

Colin Firth has been a stable addition to British cinema for three decades. Appears both in successful commercial projects (such as the series Bridget Jones’ diary, 2001–2016, or comedy Heavenly love, 2003) and in the awarded images. King’s Speech (2010), in which he embodied King George VI, received four Oscars, including the Firth Prize. He was last seen in Czech cinemas as a general in a war drama 1917 (2019).

Firth’s film partner Stanley Tucci also has no less voluminous filmography. The American actor and occasional director and screenwriter is known for his role in television film Konference ve Wannsee (2001), starring Adolf Eichmann. He received extraordinary responses thanks to the film Strong bond (2009). He received nominations for a Golden Globe or an Oscar for his role as the killer of a young girl.

Supernova should also appear in Czech cinemas next year.
