Colby Field Hockey Prepares for 2025 Season with New Additions and Renewed Momentum
WATERVILLE, Maine – The Colby College field hockey team is gearing up for the 2025 campaign, building on a promising 2024 season and welcoming a talented group of first-year student-athletes. Head Coach Allison Whittemore returns for her fourth year at the helm, aiming to continue the programS upward trajectory after achieving its most wins since 2019 with a seven-win season.
The Mules will feature returning players including Ella Brockelman, Lily Conway, Lily Harrington, Jenna London, Catie McNulty, Molly Mitchell, and Lize takoudes. Seven first-year players join the roster, bringing fresh energy and potential to the team.A recent team-building trip to Colby’s Allen Island fostered connection and chemistry, which Whittemore believes is already translating to improved play.
“This pre-season has been a strong start for us,” Whittemore said. ”We welcomed seven first-year student-athletes who’ve already brought great energy and potential to the team. We also had the opportunity to go on a team bonding trip to Colby’s Allen Island, which was a great chance to connect off the field and build chemistry that’s already showing in our play.”
Colby demonstrated its competitive edge in a pre-season scrimmage against Bowdoin, falling by only one goal despite utilizing extensive player rotation for developmental purposes. The team’s focus now centers on building consistency and continued growth as they prepare for their season opener.
Whittemore is supported by assistant coaches Hannah Keefe, entering her third season, and Abbie charrier, now in her fourth.
The Mules will kick off their season with a home game against Bowdoin on Saturday at noon on Bill Alfond Field. Fans can follow the action with live video and live stats, and a full schedule is available on the Colby Athletics website.
