Coca-Cola stops advertising on social media – Worldwide

The US soft drink company The Coca-Cola Company said on Friday it would suspend its social media ads for at least 30 days until they properly combat racist content on their platforms.

“Racism has no place in the world, and racism has no place on social media,” said James Queens, the company’s chief executive, in a brief statement.

He said social media companies need to be “more accountable and transparent”.

British and Dutch consumer goods company Unilever said on Friday it would suspend advertising on social media on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in the United States until the end of the year due to a “polarized election period”.
