CNV: government vaccination plan does not meet • ‘Oscar presentation as always’

According to chairman Piet Fortuin of the CNV union, the plan of the government to vaccinate the Netherlands against the corona virus is far from satisfactory. Fortune says he fears that, as before in testing, our country will “fall behind dramatically”. “The vaccination of millions of people is an immense, unprecedented operation unlike anything seen before in the Netherlands.

The CNV chairman argues for a ‘military implementation plan’, as in Germany, where hundreds of ‘prick streets’ are already being set up in sports halls and football stadiums. “Everything will be ready there in two weeks. The Netherlands waits quietly for the vaccine to be delivered ready-made. Only then to see how the implementation is going. A pure waste of time. If we continue like this, it will take another year before everyone has been vaccinated” , said the chairman. The Netherlands will soon start vaccinating the elderly and the vulnerable in a way that resembles the annual influenza vaccination campaign.

The cabinet has a good idea of the order in which people should be vaccinated, says Fortuin, but there is no ready-made implementation plan. “Just saying ‘it will be fine’ is not enough.” He fears that any slowdown will cause massive damage to the economy. “The cabinet must therefore speed up the conversion of test streets to vaccination streets,” says the union. “Priority also has the rapid vaccination of millions of workers, so that everyone can get back to work at full capacity.”

earlier healthcare organizations also reacted critically. They are particularly concerned about the feasibility of the start date of 4 January mentioned by Minister De Jonge.
