CMD will present the “Master of Medicine” award to three doctors


SANTO DOMINGO.-The Dominican Medical College chose three doctors to deliver the highest award to Medicine in the country, this for being outstanding in their area and for their contributions to the health of the country.

On this occasion, the union selected doctors Yulino Castillo, Pedro Sing and Elías Rosario to receive this exaltation.

Dr. Yulino Castillo is an internist and endocrinologist, graduated with honors from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC), with a specialty in Internal Medicine at the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital. He graduated as a specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition at the Salvador Zubirán National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition, attached to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

For 20 years, Dr. Castillo has been a professor of Endocrinology at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). From 1993 to date he has been a professor of Endocrinology at INTEC University and since 1995 he is coordinator of the Internal Medicine Area of ​​said university. For 26 years, Dr. Castillo has served as professor and coordinator of the National Residence for Endocrinology and Nutrition (RENAREN).

He has published 55 articles in accredited scientific medical journals. Since 2013 he has been editor of the ALAD Magazine, scientific body of the Latin American Diabetes Association and editor of the Hormonas Magazine, scientific body of the Dominican Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SODENN.

Dr. Yulino recently published his book “Diabetic Dyslipidemia”, endorsed and edited by SODENN. He is the past president of this medical society.

He has trained 53 endocrinologists. In 2019 he was recognized as “Endocrinologist of the year 2019” by the National Council of Specialized Medical Societies.

Dr. Pedro Sing Ureña

Dr. Pedro Sing is a hematologist, graduated from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo. He studied Internal Medicine specialties at the Dr. Luis E. Aybar-UASD Hospital and Hematology at the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital.

He has served as a boarding school teacher at INTEC. He has been coordinator of the rotating internship at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), professor of semiology, infectology and hematology.

He has studies in Higher Education, as well as in health and social security service networks.

The doctor has presented more than 201 national and international research papers and has published 35 research papers in the health area.

Dr. Pedro Sing is the past president of the Dominican Medical College and writer.

Dr. Elías Rosario Cáceres

Dr. Héctor Elías Rosario Cáceres is a gynecologist trained in Mexico City, practicing at the Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia Maternity Hospital, later he founded and directed the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Dr. Luis E. Aybar Hospital.

He is a pioneer in Human Reproduction in the country. He is the founder and first teacher of the Chair of Obstetrics Gynecology at the INTEC School of Medicine.

Dr. Rosario founded the first private center dedicated to human reproduction, where he achieved the first “test tube baby” in the country. In 1992 he founded the Dominican Society of Human Reproduction.

In that same year he was declared “Latin American Master of Obstetrics and Gynecology, proposed by the Dominican Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology and granted by the Latin American Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FLASOG).

The award for outstanding physicians will be presented on August 18, Dominican Medical Day.
