A real headache to which is added a problem that has been growing for some time: the number of positive cases among nursing staff.

Between 70 and 100 agents affected

, between 70 and 100 agents have reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus in recent days, spread across different departments (oncology, general medicine, nephrology, dialysis, etc.). No case would be considered worrying but this contamination has generated many work stoppages. The activity could be maintained not without difficulty in all the departments, in particular with changes in planning and reminders of holidays. This is the first time that such a peak has been reached in the hospital.

Measures have been taken to manage these clusters, such as systematic screening of agents in the identified sectors and quarantine procedures. The situation is on the way to being brought under control. Almost generalized screening is planned for returns to work, on a voluntary basis.

No relaxation of agents for the CGT

It remains to identify the cause of this spread. According to CGT delegates from the hospital, it would be multiple. “There are more tests than before, the season is favorable for the spread of the virus and, unlike the first wave, there is a maintenance of activity. With a lack of staff. The officers are exhausted, stressed. They have to deal with several things at the same time, it creates exhaustion. With a year of crisis, fatigue is enormous, and this increases the risk of contamination ”.

Trade unionists do not want to hear about a possible release of agents. “No, they are fully aware of where they work and what is at stake, resumes a CGT representative, no one in this festive period would take the risk of infecting him or his loved ones.”

Wishing to remain anonymous, a hospital worker understands that the breaks would be singled out. “But we’re already having trouble taking them,” she sighs. We know that the virus is circulating, as in most hospitals, but all precautions are taken. This is also why people at the entrance filter, to protect patients and staff. Unfortunately they are subject to a lot of incivility ”.
