Club Brugge and KV Mechelen have regularly done business with each other in recent years. And now the two first division teams would complete another transfer. The newspaper reports The Latest News that Jordi Vanlerberghe returns definitively to the AFAS stadium.
The midfielder, who can also be played in the defense, already finished on a rental basis with Malinwa last season. However, the Malinois were unable to disclose the purchase option in its lease. But they would have sat round the table again with Club Brugge and an agreement was reached about a possibly lower transfer fee. If his medical trials are successful, Vanlerberghe signs according to HLN a contract until mid-2024.
The 24-year-old road warrior with the good crosspass is a youth product of KVM and decorated a top transfer to Jan Breydel in 2017. At Blauw-Zwart, however, he failed to break through, and a lease to KV Oostende was not an undivided success. Last season, however, he found his best form again in Mechelen. His good but sometimes changeable performances are now rewarded with a definitive return to the familiar nest.

There is no mention of the concrete sum associated with the transaction, although it seems inevitable that Club Brugge will swallow a significant loss.
