Stuttgart – The facility-related corona vaccination has been compulsory for a little over a week – and in Baden-Württemberg so far more than 17,000 employees from the health professions have been reported to the health authorities without proof of vaccination against SARS-CoV-2.

They are people who have not been vaccinated or have recovered or for whom “there are doubts about the authenticity or the correctness of the content of the evidence they have submitted,” the Ministry of Health announced today.

More than 2,600 facilities in the country had transmitted the vaccination status of their employees. “There is still a week to submit the remaining reports to the health authorities,” said Uwe Lahl, head of the office responsible for fighting the pandemic. “We are on the right track, the authorities will quickly implement the facility-related vaccination requirement.”

The institution-related corona vaccination obligation stipulates that employees from clinics, nursing homes, medical and dental practices, rescue services, rehabilitation facilities, workshops for the disabled and outpatient nursing services must disclose their vaccination status to their employer. If no proof has been submitted by March 15, the facilities must inform the responsible health authority.

The authorities decide in each individual case how to proceed with unvaccinated employees. An attempt is first made to convince those concerned of the measure. It is intended to better protect vulnerable groups – such as residents in nursing homes or the sick – from infection with the virus.

If no rethinking is in sight, the health department can prohibit those affected from entering the workplace and the activity carried out there “within a reasonable period of time”. A fine of up to 2500 euros is also possible. Since the officials have discretion, they can allow the unvaccinated but daily tested employee to stay temporarily in the event of a major staff shortage. © dpa/aerzteblatt.de
