The Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) has set in a “White Paper” the fourteen most important challenges up to the year 2030 to increase knowledge of life, diseases, space exploration or climate.

This organization has radiographed the fourteen strategic themes to coordinate research teams “Leading and multidisciplinary” that expand the frontiers of knowledge in essential areas of research.
The contents of the thematic areas have been gathered in the “White Paper Scientific Challenges 2030”, and they have been promoted during the last year from the Vice Presidency of Scientific and Technical Research of the CSIC with the collaboration of 1,100 researchers belonging to 112 research centers.
Analysis of the oceans and clean energy
In the “White Paper” fundamental questions are analyzed including the future exploration of the universe, artificial intelligence, ocean research, developing clean, safe and efficient energy or understanding how the brain works.
“The books, designed as reference for the development of the scientific strategy of the institution, they allow to know the research that is carried out nowadays in the centers of the CSIC, and at the same time they provide a global vision of what will be the scientific priorities throughout the next decade ”, has explained in a note Victoria Moreno -Arribas, deputy vice president of Scientific-Technical Areas of the CSIC.
The strategic thematic areas set out in the book are: Sustainable global society; The origin of life; genome and epigenetics; biomedicine and health; brain, mind and behavior; sustainable primary production; global change; efficient, clean and safe energy; understand the basic components of the universe; complex and digital information; artificial intelligence, robotics and data science; space, colonization and exploration; the oceans; and Dynamic Earth.
