Climate of rupture in the radical bloc in the Chamber of Deputies

The threat of Radical Evolution, led by Martín Lousteau, of a rupture in the radical bloc of the Chamber of Deputies if the positioning of that sector within the UCR bloc is not recognized, could materialize next Monday, if the space headed by Mario Negri insists on staying at the forefront of that bench and, at the same time, on leading the Juntos por el Cambio (JxC) interblock.

Although the talks to avoid a possible break between the deputies who support the continuity of Mario Negri and those who highlight the need to renew the authorities of the bloc, led by Buenos Aires Emiliano Yacobitti, will continue in the next few hours, both sectors do not rule out that finally the conflict ends in rupture.

In any case, the formal definition on the continuity or not of Negri in the presidency of the UCR bloc will take place next Monday at 6:00 p.m., in a meeting to which, until now, Yacobitti’s sector has not been invited.

For now, Yacobiti assured yesterday that “the only thing that cannot be broken” is the interblock of JxC, although for the moment he relativized the possibility of moving away from the radical bloc to form his own bench.

“We will try not to do it,” said Yacobitti, when asked about the rumors that indicated the distance of that space from the radical bloc, after failing on Thursday a first attempt to bring positions closer between leaders of Radical Evolution and those close to Negri.

However, the Buenos Aires legislator clarified that “we are trying not to do it but we need to show that we listen to the people”, after the result of the last legislative elections.

“If Negri does not give up places after losing by beating in Córdoba, I think it will break,” said a source of Radical Evolution, raising the tone of tensions.

As it transpired in the meeting held the day before yesterday by referents of both sectors, the deputies of Radical Evolution had demanded, if they did not get the presidency of the radical bloc, today in the hands of Negri, the leadership of the interblock of JxC, also in the hands of the Cordovan, a proposal that the sector of the head of the bench ruled out outright.

For Monday’s meeting, the intention of the legislators who lead the radical bloc is to present the different blocs that make up the Interblock, which will continue to be called Together for Change, although they ratified that that day “it will not necessarily be defined who will be the president of the Interblock. ”.

They recalled that this announcement about the continuity or not of Negri at the head of the interblock can wait until the first session of the new Congress, which would be in mid-December.

However, the sources indicated that “the position of Negri, Ritondo and López is that the Interbloque coordinator must be a bloc president, as it has been until now” and they would not support the Radical Evolution proposal that proposes that a deputy who does not be head of block occupy this position, as Yacobitti proposes.

For their part, those close to Negri argued that the Yacobitti sector “is looking for excuses to break the block, which have varied over the days. They asked to preside over the bloc and lost by two thirds to one third. Now they don’t want to submit to internal democracy. It’s a bummer. Now they are asking for the leadership of the Interblock ”.

“The radical bloc has already explained to them that we have much fewer legislators than the PRO. How do they ask us for something that is not from the party? ”, They clarified near Negri.

In recent days, those close to Negri assured that they have 27 supporters to manage to stay in the leadership of that bench, while from Radical Evolution, led by Senator Martín Lousteau, they say they have 15 supporters, of the 45 that will make up the bloc to as of December 10.

If the formation of this new block is confirmed, the JxC interblock that until December 9 has three spaces _UCR, PRO, Coalición Cívica_, as of December 10 it would be made up of at least six blocks and are heading to be seven if that Radicalism sector formalizes its fracture.

Is that, in addition to the benches that both Negri and Yacobitti would head separately, if the talks do not prosper, the interblock would also be made up of the blocks led by Emilio Monzó, made up of four deputies, including Margarita Stolbizer; another headed by Ricardo López Murphy (monobloc).

In addition, and among those that would integrate their own benches, within the interblock are also Humbergo Orrego (San Juan), Claudio Poggi (San Luis) and Alberto Assef (Buenos Aires), while Rogelio Frigerio, elected deputy for Entre Ríos, also It would form its own block, independent of the PRO block, which Cristian Ritondo has headed up to now.
