Climate activists are stuck in Düsseldorf and Cologne

Düsseldorf.
Climate activists have glued themselves to the streets of Düsseldorf and Cologne. The “Last Generation” group has claimed responsibility for the actions.

Climate protection activists glued themselves to the streets of Cologne and Düsseldorf on Monday morning. In the state capital, they stuck to the edge of a four-lane main thoroughfare. The traffic did not come to a standstill as a result, but continued to flow in a restricted one-way, said a police spokeswoman, but there was a backlog.

A total of five activists took part, two of them stuck to the street. They were relieved by the police.

Last generation commits to actions

In Cologne, according to the police, four activists stuck to a lane and a cycle path on the Neumarkt, the police said. On banners and via Twitter the group Last Generation confessed to the action. She wants to urge rapid measures against the climate crisis – such as a speed limit.

A series of actions took place nationwide in several cities on Monday. According to the state police control center, there were initially no further actions in NRW. (dpa)
