Construction company Offenbach acts as the client. School is to be occupied in spring 2022.
In their most recent meeting, the city council approved the construction of the Froebel School by the municipal non-profit building company Offenbach. For the first time, GBO is acting as the client of a public school building. The new building of the all-day school with a focus on mental and physical-motor development is being built on Mühlheimer Straße. It replaces an old building that is too small and not handicapped accessible in the north end.
The school is designed for 150 children and young people and just as many teachers and caregivers. It should be available in spring 2022. When planning started in 2016, there was talk of completion in summer 2021. The total costs for the new building amount to 30 million euros, which the GBO is financing. The city becomes a tenant.
Instead of managing the school through the GBO as originally planned, the task was transferred to the building management GmbH.
