Claudia Plakolm (25) is the new boss of the Young ÖVP

The young ÖVP gets a boss. The regional president of the JVP Upper Austria, Claudia Plakolm, was designated the new federal president on Friday evening. In this role she succeeds Stefan Schnöll, who took over the Young ÖVP from Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in November 2017.

Plakolm in a mailing: “I am looking forward to being able to stand for the election of members at the Bundestag in the autumn. The Young ÖVP is the largest political youth organization in the country and a strong voice for young concerns. We want to continue to be there for young people in the future as well: in the local, district and regional groups as well as at the federal level. That is what sets the young ÖVP apart! “

Claudia Plakolm grew up in Walding (Urfahr-Umgebung district, Upper Austria) and has been politically active since her school days. She has been the state chairwoman of the JVP in Upper Austria since 2016 and the youngest member of the National Council in 2017. With her, an Upper Austrian is at the head of the JVP for the first time.

“I am happy to have Claudia Plakolm as a motivated successor who is consistently fighting for the concerns of young people in Austria. As JVP state chairwoman and youth spokeswoman in the National Council, she has proven this on several occasions, ”says outgoing federal chairman Stefan Schnöll about the decision.
