Detroit, MI – Boxer Tony Harrison, preparing for his upcoming bout, has adopted a new moniker for this phase of his career: “The Gentleman.” This shift marks a departure from his earlier, more confrontational approach, as Harrison stated his intention to let his performance in the ring speak for itself. His last professional fight was in 2023, where he suffered a ninth-round technical knockout loss to Tim Tszyu for the interim WBO junior middleweight title.
“I’m not here to prove anything to anybody,” Harrison commented on his current mindset. “I’m just here to let my hands do the talking, run the agg up and get to another world championship that they saeid I couldn’t do and do it again and then drop the mic.” He expressed a desire to simply enjoy the sport and achieve further championship success.
The upcoming event, featuring Claressa Shields in a heavyweight fight against Lani Daniels, has generated meaningful interest, with all tickets reportedly sold out. Mark Taffet, Shields’ manager, highlighted a notable trend in ticket sales, indicating that over 70% of the 15,000 seats were purchased by women. Taffet described this as a groundbreaking moment for women’s boxing, emphasizing the unprecedented depth and breadth of female participation and interest in the sport.
The undercard bouts are scheduled to commence at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the main event featuring Shields and Daniels set to begin at 8 p.m.
