Claims for Covid-19 Drug Hadi Pranoto, Experts Raise Talk Page all

KOMPAS.com – Not a few Indonesians or certain parties issued statements related to drugs or herbs that can cure Covid-19.

One of them is Prof. Hadi Pranoto who heads the Covid-19 antibody formula research team. Hadi was recently interviewed by musician Erdian Aji Prihartanto or Anji, which was uploaded to a Youtube video on July 31, 2020.

In the video, Hadi said that the Covid-19 antibody liquid he found could cure thousands of Covid-19 patients. The Covid-19 antibody liquid is claimed to have been distributed in Java, Bali and Kalimantan.

Hadi also mentioned that he had given the Covid-19 antibody liquid to thousands of patients at the Athlete’s Home, with 2-3 days of healing time.

People do not just believe the claim

An independent molecular biologist, Ahmad Utomo, said that one of the fundamental problems in Indonesia related to the drug or treatment of a disease is a claim.

“One of the problems in Indonesia and ordinary people is related to claims. The drug is daily regulated, so we have the POM so there is protection for the people who consume it, “Ahmad told Kompas.com, Sunday (2/8/2020).

According to Ahmad, during the Covid-19 pandemic some of the rules were more relaxed. For example, some drugs used for other diseases are also tested for Covid-19. Ritonavir for HIV, for example, is also hydrochlorokuin for malaria.

“I could claim a drug. The community must have healing expectations. Well, if it doesn’t heal, what if the patient dies, for example? What are the side effects? What kind of responsibility? ” he explained.

Therefore Ahmad said that the public must be educated about the people who issued the claim. It was also explained in the video uploaded to Mr. Ahmad’s Youtube account on August 1, 2020.

The importance of the clinical trial process

Ahmad said that no scientist could believe that the vaccine being tested was now able to treat Covid-19. That’s why we need clinical trials.

“Clinical trials must be designed seriously. Breakthroughs made by non-medical parties must cooperate with the medical authorities, “he said.

Hadi Pranoto previously said that he had given Covid-19 antibody to thousands of patients at the Athlete’s Home.

Ahmad said that if it was true that the antibody fluid was effective in treating Covid-19 patients, this would be good news.
