City buys 3.3 hectare wooded land in eastern Montreal

The City of Montreal is buying a wooded land of 3.3 hectares for $ 5.4 million in the East of the island, which will remain a green space rather than being used for real estate development.

The field, the size of about five soccer fields, is located north of Perras Boulevard, between Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard and 86th Avenue.

“By acquiring this green space in eastern Montreal, the City is giving itself the necessary means to ensure sound management of this forest and thus ensure its sustainability for future generations,” said Robert Beaudry, responsible for large parks on the committee. executive of the City.

The land is linked to the Pinel stream, which is of ecological interest. “The Pinel stream is the second major inland waterway in the eastern ecoterritory,” said Ms. Bourgeois.
