Citizens may request the help of the PAN by Internet and telephone



The Department of the Family reported on Tuesday that citizens interested in applying for the benefit of the Nutritional Assistance Program (PAN) will be able to carry out the management through Internet and telephone.

According to a press release, people must access the platform requestpan.com where they will have to enter the necessary information. They will also have to submit to email [email protected] a valid official identification and a document that validates your current physical address.

“The previous process required submitting over 10 documents to be evaluated. Now only two documents are required electronically, allowing for a more flexible assessment. The applications will be evaluated in accordance with the program’s eligibility guidelines and the information submitted by the applicant, having this certificate that it is true and correct.”, Explained Eddie García, acting secretary of the Family.

The official explained that once the person requesting the service completes all the requirements electronically, the Administration for the Socioeconomic Development of the Family (ADSEF) the applicant will obtain an application number that must be placed together with the documents sent to the email.

Subsequently, an agency employee will contact the person to continue the process.

García indicated that those without Internet access will be able to complete the application by phone by calling 3-1-1. In this case, people must present a copy of the requested documents in 20 mailboxes across the ten Family regions.

Given that, a group of employees will continue to operate in the agency to support citizen service tasks. The Family offices are closed to the public due to the emergency associated with the COVID-19 coronavirus.

“These will have the necessary protections following the safety guidelines of the CDC and the Department of Health of Puerto Rico. We are grateful to the MMM company who made us a generous donation of gloves and masks that allows us to activate these employees in the face of the great need for new families that currently require the help of the PAN, ”said the official.

As of April 8, the agency was reported to have received 8,752 new qualifications. In Puerto Rico 1.3 million people are PAN participants.
