This coming July the cinema returns to the most emblematic outdoor stage in Almería: the Monumental Complex La Alcazaba. A strength closely linked to the seventh art as it has hosted the filming of productions such as ‘Patton’ and ‘The Wind and the Lion’ and, more recently, the ‘Game of Thrones’ series and the latest installment of ‘Wonder Woman’.

The Summer Film Library, which in 2020 became one of the favorite proposals of the Almeria public, returns to the monument with a cycle of eight classic films that complements ‘Hollywood Icons’, the classic film portrait exhibition that opened this Monday at the Andalusian Center of Photography (CAF). Specifically, the screenings will take place in the Patio de Armas of the third enclosure of the fortress.

‘Citizen Kane’, considered one of the best films in the history of cinema, will be in charge of opening the cycle. Directed by Orson Welles and winner of the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1941, it tells the story of an important American mogul named Charles Foster Kane and owner of a chain of newspapers, a network of radio stations, two unions and a collection of works by art that guards in his castle, Xanadú. The last and enigmatic word he utters before he dies is ‘Rosebud’, leading to fascinating research to unravel its meaning.
